Day 22: Java

I decided to make a coffee scoop tonight, I understand the basic process but had never actually done one until tonight.

I started with a small blank of Mahogany approx. 2" square and 4" long.

The shaped of the bowl and the handle have been formed.  The ends are trimmed on the bandsaw and sanded flush.

Outside shape complete.

A portion of the cup has been cut away.  The remaining portion will form the bowl on the scoop.

The bowl portion has been chucked up using a small vacuum chuck.  Light cuts are required as the scoop is secured by nothing but the vacuum and the surface area is very small.

The bowl portion spinning around 1200 RPMs.  The handle cannot be easily seen at this speed.

The finished coffee scoop with one coat of oil applied.
